MSC announces new PSS from Europe to Savannah

MSC, the second-largest carrier in the world, will implement a new Peak Season Surcharge (PSS) from Northwestern (NWC) and ScanBaltic Europe to the port of Savannah in the United States.

The surcharge of US$1,000 will be effective from 1 November and will be applied to all dry, reefer and special equipment containers.

Therefore, the newly formed prices will be as follows:

  • From current US$2,200 to US$3,200 per TEU
  • From current US$2,700 to US$3,700 per FEU

The Swiss shipping company stated in an announcement that this surcharge is "due to the strong container demand and consequent difficulties to supply needed equipment."
