ZIM announces changes in cross Atlantic services

The Israeli container shipping company ZIM has decided to make several upcoming changes to its Mediterranean – North America transatlantic network.

From May 2022, the ocean carrier will provide a service between the Mediterranean and Los Angeles, California, by rail via US East Coast gateways, replacing the Mediterranean Pacific Service (MPS).

Additionally, ZIM's Mediterranean Gulf Express (MGX) scope will be focused on connecting cargo between the Mediterranean ports and Houston and Mexico.

The service’s new rotation will be Livorno – Genoa – Barcelona – Valencia – Veracruz - Altamira - Houston – Livorno.

The adjustments will gradually be implemented during the month of April 2022 and the new network will be fully operated as of May, according to ZIM, which said that the upcoming changes "are implemented to adapt to current supply chain disruptions and improve the cargo delivery time".
